Kenya’s Mesozi is using mobile tech to change the face of distribution in Africa

Two like-minded second year Computer Science undergraduate students, Mbaabu and Mesongo, registered Mesozi Limited with the mission to help businesses harness the power and scale of technology to achieve their business objectives optimally. We put ourselves out there as the go-to guys for all business process automation needs. Soon enough, and more than twice, we were approached with a similar problem,  businesses lacking reliable information on orders and demand levels, especially in areas that are geographically isolated, and the performance of their sales teams, products and services in the market.

We decided that we would address probably the greatest challenge for global economic development, the “last mile” distribution challenge. We add value to the distribution chain by enabling manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers and retailers manage their sales, thus enabling both rural and urban communities to gain access to essential household products in a timely manner.

Now, Mbaabu oversees the operations of the organization including business development and strategy while Mesongo provides technical vision and direction for Mesozi while collaborating with the entire tech team to actualize Web/Software/Mobile Projects and Apps.

Your products and services

MarketForce is our core product.  It is a web and mobile solution that enables businesses to manage their sales and distribution process.

Your success factors

The team! Mesozi is a dedicated group of strategic thinkers, creative minds and technical wizards, who are passionate about leveraging creativity and innovation to create technology driven business solutions, and to empower the society while at it.

We not only build build apps that function, but that are understandable and usable, that bring joy and excitement, pleasure and fun, productivity and efficiency and, yes, beauty to people’s lives.

Your factors differentiating and disruptive compared to the existing

Our key differentiation is that we provide industry specific products that are tailored for the African market based on tested processes. For example, we have integrated MarketForce with local mobile payment solutions and accounting tools to ensure that the solution automates the key functions in its sector (sales) accompanied by enablers in the supply chain process.

Your business model

We charge a subscription fee for our cloud-based service (charged per user per month), coupled with project implementation costs, especially where customization and training are involved.

A few words about your competitors

Our competition ranges from multi-national companies to smaller companies who provide either sales automation, customer relationship management or distribution tools. Ours is an industry specific (FMCG) product that is more affordable, highly customisable and integratable and tailored to the African market.
