The idea came about when Simon Hartley and his business partner, Roy Mathieu Borole, needed a reliable courier service for their first start-up, WumWum.com, which offered nappies and other baby items to parents in the Cape Town area. One of the problems picked up with selling online is poor delivery, and they realised that they did not want to hand over deliveries to a company where most of their customers were parents who often could not afford to have a bad experience. After some brainstorming, the pair decided that owning a fleet of vehicles was not the way to go. WumDrop delivery guys are both freelance drivers and drivers that are part of an existing courier network.<\/span><\/p>\n

WumDrop is a service that allows entities to send parcels from one geographical location to another. These locations may be described by addresses or GPS coordinates. The service is on-demand which means pickup happens soon as the user specifies a time for pickup or within minutes from placement. All this is handled by WumDrop tech which is developed in-house.<\/span><\/p>\n

The strength is that we\u2019re big-headed in what we\u2019re trying to solve, which means when somebody says \u201cThis is hard\u201d, we go \u201cWell, that\u2019s the whole point of what we\u2019re trying to do.\u201d Nobody pays for a problem that\u2019s easy to solve. People pay for something that\u2019s hard. We\u2019re really good at operations, especially when it comes to customer service.<\/span><\/p>\n

WumDrop not only deals with C2C deliveries but does B2C and also B2B. This allows us to dominate a great deal of the market and get the business name and reputation out there<\/span><\/p>\n

They keep us going. Whenever a competitor comes along, it makes us that much more hungry to achieve our goal and do what we do best.<\/span><\/p>\n
